Spoken by residents and visitors from Russia, and widely used as a common language by people from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Ukraine and other countries of the former Soviet Union. Russian is heard in real estate, tourism, hospitality, finance and trade.

Dialects and varieties

Standard Russian
Russian is fairly uniform across Russia. Regional accents rarely cause problems for listeners, and the channel uses standard Russian.
Russian as a shared language
Many guests from Central Asia, the Caucasus, Belarus and Ukraine speak Russian fluently, with their own accent and vocabulary. Some prefer their own language: Kazakh, Uzbek, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Armenian, Georgian and Azerbaijani are among our 81 languages.
Business Russian
Business and property speakers borrow English terms freely (менеджер, девелопер). Add product, developer and project names to the glossary in the form your marketing uses.

Typical events

  • Property launches and investor presentations
  • Tourism and hospitality briefings and trade events
  • Finance, wealth and family-office conferences
  • Business forums with delegations from Russia and Central Asia
  • Exhibitions and trade shows

Glossary advice

  • Russian speakers are addressed formally by first name and patronymic (Ivan Petrovich). Include the patronymics of any speakers who use them.
  • Transliteration varies widely. Agree how Russian names are spelled in English, and how Arabic names are spelled in Cyrillic.
  • Russian uses a decimal comma and миллиард for a billion. Put prices, areas in square metres and payment-plan figures in the glossary.
  • Add developer, project and community names exactly as they appear in your Russian marketing materials.
  • List acronyms and how they are said in Russian, since some are translated and some are kept in English.
How to prepare a glossary

Russian at UAE events

Russian-speaking guests are a familiar part of the UAE’s property, tourism and finance scene. Russian is also the common language of many visitors from Central Asia, the Caucasus and Eastern Europe. For a property launch, an investor evening or a hospitality briefing, a Russian channel means these guests follow every figure and condition, not just the headline.

SIM.AI delivers Russian as spoken interpretation and as captions in Cyrillic, on each guest’s own phone, a few seconds behind the speaker. Russian can run as one of up to 12 languages at the same time from one audio feed.

A typical set-up

A Dubai developer launches a new residential community in a hotel ballroom. The chief executive speaks English; a local partner speaks Arabic. Guests scan a QR code on their table card and choose Russian, Mandarin, Hindi, Arabic or English. Before the evening, we load the project and community names, unit types, payment-plan terms and key prices into the glossary, in the forms used in the developer’s Russian brochure. Our team monitors every channel from the side of the room. Afterwards, the developer receives transcripts in each language, useful for follow-up. For events of this kind, see exhibitions and trade shows.

Russian as a shared language

Many guests from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and the Caucasus use Russian at work and follow it easily. Others prefer their own language. Because up to 12 channels can run at once, you can offer Russian alongside Kazakh or Uzbek without choosing between them. Our article on how many languages a Gulf audience needs helps you decide.

Names and figures

Russian names come with patronymics, and transliteration between Cyrillic, Latin and Arabic script varies widely. Property and finance events are full of figures, and Russian writes them with a decimal comma. Put names, prices and areas in the glossary; our guide to preparing a glossary shows how.

Honest limits

Machine interpretation can make mistakes with names, figures said quickly, humour, idiom and overlapping speakers. For negotiations, contract signings and sensitive client meetings, choose a certified human interpreter from Sim Trans, or a hybrid AI and human set-up. See all 81 languages for the rest of your audience.

Questions organisers ask

Can guests from Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan use the Russian channel?

Yes. Many guests from Central Asia are fluent in Russian and use it as a common language. Some prefer their own language; Kazakh and Uzbek are both among our 81 languages and can run alongside Russian.

Are Russian captions available?

Yes. Guests can choose audio and captions, or captions only, in Cyrillic. Tap Show original to see the speaker’s own words.

Can you interpret directly between Arabic and Russian?

Yes. Arabic speakers can be heard in Russian and Russian speakers in Arabic, with captions in each language.

When should we book a human Russian interpreter?

For negotiations, contract signings, legally binding sessions and sensitive client meetings. Sim Trans provides certified human interpreters, alone or alongside SIM.AI.
