Legal and courts

Interpretation for law firms, legal events and courts in the UAE

SIM.AI works well for the legal sector's events: client seminars, regulatory briefings, professional training and internal partner meetings. It does not replace a certified court interpreter. For hearings, depositions and anything that forms part of the legal record, Sim Trans provides certified human interpreters, and SIM.AI can support the people around that work.

What matters most

The record and confidentiality come first

In legal work, what was said is evidence, and who heard it is a matter of privilege. Machine interpretation can contain errors, especially with names, figures and specialised terms, so it must never be the version a tribunal relies on. Confidentiality runs through everything: who can join, where audio is processed, how long recordings exist and who can ask for them to be deleted.

Typical sessions

Where we work in this sector.

  • Client seminars and legal updates

A firm briefs clients on a new UAE law or regulation in English, with Arabic, Hindi or Mandarin channels for the client base.

  • Professional training

Continuing legal education sessions for associates, paralegals and in-house teams who work across Arabic and English.

  • Partner and practice group meetings

Internal meetings run as private PIN-protected sessions, with recordings kept only as long as the firm wants.

  • Legal conferences

Arbitration, compliance and dispute resolution conferences with international speakers and panels that switch language.

  • Public gallery and observer support

Where a court or tribunal permits it, observers in a gallery or overflow room follow proceedings in their language while certified interpreters handle the record.

How we run it

From the first call to the last file.

  1. Confidentiality terms first

We agree private PIN access, the retention period, deletion on request, and whether processing should run in the UAE instead of the EU region, before any material is shared.

  2. Legal glossary in Precision mode

We load party names, statute and article references, defined terms and Latin phrases into Precision mode, so terminology and pronunciation are enforced.

  3. Clean audio only

We connect to the room's microphone system or the venue desk. Legal content is the wrong place for a room microphone picking up everyone at once.

  4. Monitored and reviewed

Our team monitors each channel live, and the transcripts are delivered as working records for the firm to review.

When to add a human interpreter

Choose certified Sim Trans human interpreters for hearings, witness examination, depositions, arbitration sessions on the record, client meetings where advice is given, and sensitive negotiations. Use SIM.AI where the aim is understanding rather than evidence: seminars, training and briefings. For written documents, Sim Trans provides legal and certified translation.

Understanding versus evidence

The simplest way to decide where SIM.AI fits in legal work is to ask one question: will anyone rely on this interpretation as evidence? If the answer is yes, book a certified human interpreter. If the purpose is that people in the room understand what is being said, SIM.AI is a practical and economical choice.

Onshore UAE courts work mainly in Arabic, while the DIFC and ADGM courts work mainly in English, and many firms serve clients across both. That leaves a steady flow of seminars, training and client briefings that need to work in two or more languages without the record being at stake.

An example from a Dubai law firm

A firm hosts a half-day seminar for clients on changes to UAE employment law in a hotel meeting room in Dubai. Partners present in English; a guest speaker from a government authority presents in Arabic; the audience includes HR directors whose working languages are Hindi and Mandarin.

  • Channels: Arabic, English, Hindi and Mandarin.
  • Glossary: the law’s official title and article numbers, defined terms in both Arabic and English, and the speakers’ names and titles, enforced through Precision mode.
  • Access: a private session with the PIN printed on the invitation, not on public signage.
  • Afterwards: English and Arabic transcripts for the firm’s knowledge team to turn into a client note, and recordings deleted after thirty days, as the firm requested.

The firm’s partners review the transcript before anything is published. That review step matters: machine output is a starting point, not advice.

What you receive

Recordings of every language channel, transcripts per language in .docx and .xlsx, subtitle files if the seminar is filmed, and a usage report. See transcripts and records for the formats. When a transcript needs to become a formal document, Sim Trans legal translation takes it from there.

When to call in the human team

For hearings, depositions and negotiations, our checklist for AI interpretation versus human interpreters sets out the questions to ask. Many legal events end up hybrid: certified interpreters for the parts that count as evidence, SIM.AI for everything around them. For Arabic terminology in particular, read our notes on Arabic interpretation.

Questions organisers ask

Can SIM.AI be used in a UAE court hearing?

Not as the interpretation of record. Hearings, witness evidence and arbitration sessions on the record need certified human interpreters, and Sim Trans provides them. Where a court or tribunal permits it, SIM.AI can help observers in a gallery or overflow room follow along.

Are the transcripts admissible or certified?

No. SIM.AI transcripts are machine-generated working records, useful for notes and internal follow-up. If you need a certified document, Sim Trans offers legal and certified translation as a separate service.

Who can access a confidential session?

Only people with the session PIN. You decide how long recordings are kept, and we delete them on request. Data is processed in the EU region by default, with UAE processing available on request.

How does Precision mode help with legal terms?

It enforces the glossary you approve, including defined terms, party names and article references, and fixes their pronunciation. It reduces errors with specialised language but does not remove them.
